What happens if your child is taken from your home. When children are taken into state custody, the best place for them to go is to a relative. Maybe grandparents, aunts and uncles, or even a distant cousin’s house. The point is to keep them with family while the parent gets on track to get the child back. Children can also go into foster homes.
